Grounding

Below, the runway is crumbling, Campari soda is being sipped above the clouds. Switzerland remains flying high, while everything else is tottering. Even in the nosedive, the stewardess continues to smile and tries to distract the passengers from the impending catastrophe. GROUNDING takes the Swissair bankruptcy as a starting point and opens up a space to think about the concept of security. How does this idea of stability feel? Who promises security in the event of an imminent loss of control? And what could be done to counter the instrumentalization of these fears?

Compagnie Softsoil uses socially formative events and settings to reflect on complex political mechanisms through the small. In their works, they use space, light, sound, language and body as equal means. Subtle twists and unexpected tilted images create sharp and at the same time sensual theatrical experiences. In their plays, they tell stories of characters who fight for their own existence and position in the face of a world that often feels uncertain. In doing so, they do not shy away from the absurdities of everyday life and the desire to play.
