For her seventh ECM album "Not Far From Here", Julia Hülsmann chose a new timbre: she expanded her trio with Marc Muellbauer and Heinrich Köbberling with saxophonist Uli Kempendorff. His presence is miraculously integrated into Hülsmann's poetry, giving the subtle compositions additional momentum. Kempendorff's play of nonchalance and urgency is an ideal fit for this ingenious trio, which has been in existence for 18 years. "A masterful recording: contoured in terms of sound aesthetics and yet of creative freedom, meditatively at peace with itself and yet brightly shining outwards," according to the magazine Tonart.

The formation Sub Rosa of the Swiss guitarist Roberto Pianca brings together up-and-coming young jazz musicians from the national and international scene. The musicians have been playing together in different constellations for a long time and know each other well. But everyone feels the need to look for adventurous paths and unknown landscapes in music, secret places where music can take place. It is not for nothing that the Latin term sub rosa was deliberately chosen for the title of the first album and the name of the band; it translates as "under the rose" and stands for secrecy or confidentiality.
